Ingram
Ingram were a family group from Camden, New Jersey, USA.
The group comprised of:
James ‘Jimmy’ Ingram (vocals / keyboards / sax / flute / principal songwriter – not to be confused with Qwest recording artist James Ingram), Barbara Ingram (also a top session singer), Billy aka William Ingram (guitar / bass / trombone), Norman aka Butch Ingram (bass & trumpet), John Ingram (drums / lead vocals / tuba), Robert aka Timmy Ingram (drums / percussion / trumpet), Francis Ingram (vocals), Edith Ingram (vocals) and Virginia Ingram (vocals).
This is the follow-up to their first funky album. They get a slicker sound that points the way towards their excellent modern soul sides of the 80s. Although the album was excecutive produced by the H(ugo) & L(uigi) Records team, the Ingrams handled most of the production and arrangements, and give the record a much more sophisticated sound than other work on the label and it is filled with loads of great moments that bridge the gap between 70s harmony soul and modern 80s groove, including the moogy space soul classic “I Don’t Want To Be Alone“
